The Ben A’an walk tackles a 454m summit in the hills of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. With views of both Loch Katrine and Loch Achray this walk offers stunning views of some of Scotland’s best landscapes.

How easy is Ben A’an to climb?

The Ben A’an walk itself is around 4km and is considered a good hill for those new to climbing. For an experienced hill walker Ben A’an would be considered easy. There are two particularly steep sections of the climb so be prepared! When I say easy, that could be an understatement. Starting out can be quite difficult as you initially gain some height. The path then evens out before you reach a second section that requires some scrambling over rocks. Rest assured, the views at the top are worth it!

How long does it take to climb Ben A’an?

Everyone’s fitness levels are different so this will vary. I’d say half an hour to an hour would be an average time for someone with a general level of fitness.

Is the Ben A’an car park busy?

The Ben A’an car park is often busy. It fills up very quickly at the weekends, during school holidays and in good weather. It is best to get there as early as possible. An ideal time is before 9am. Look out for the Ben Venue car park coming from Glasgow. A much bigger and less busy space, often overlooked in the search for the Ben A’an car park. The Ben Venue car park is only a five minute walk to the start of the Ben A’an walk.

Is Ben A’an a munro?

In Scotland, a munro is a mountain over 914.4 metres (3000 feet). Ben A’an sits at 454 metres so is not classed as a munro.
