Is Ibiza worth visiting in October? A week in Cala Tarida.
Ibiza in the summer months can be quite hectic, the clubs are packed, prices are through the roof, getting a taxi in recent times has been impossible and you’re even jostling for space on Ibiza’s beautiful beaches. However, as the summer season draws to a close, the parties are ending and the tourists are heading home to hibernate things begin to get a bit quieter, chilled out and most importantly cheaper. Thankfully the beaches remain, the sun still shines, restaurants are open, the sunsets are spectacular and flights from the UK are far more affordable and so Ibiza is absolutely worth visiting in October. After spending an amazing week in Cala Tarida on the west coast in the first week of October, here’s just a few reasons why you should visit Ibiza at this time of year.
The perfect opportunity to explore
A common misconception about Ibiza is that it’s just all about partying however with the slightly cooler temperatures, visiting Ibiza in October is prime time for exploring the island’s rugged coastline, hidden beaches, and lush countryside. There are a fair few trails up on the cliff tops that take you from beach to beach or why not hire paddle boards to explore the tiny coves up close. There are also several organised boat trips that take you along all the beaches of the west coast with snorkel stops in front of the famous Es Vedra rock. The Old Town of Ibiza was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999 and offers another area of the island to explore. Why not spend the afternoon exploring it’s cobbled streets to find a castle, museums, a cathedral and several restaurants and shops.
Cheaper Flights and Accommodation
Ibiza is worth visiting in October due to the cheaper flights and accommodation options available. As the main tourist season winds down, tour operators, airlines and accommodation providers are scrambling for your business and so October is a great time to grab yourself an Ibiza bargain. To keep costs down it is always recommended to book flights and accommodation separately. If you need help deciding where to stay, my top 3 favourite Ibiza hotels are shared below.
The Tui Blue Cala Tarida Hotel
An all-inclusive resort snuggled into a corner of Cala Tarida beach, with amazing sunset views and swim up rooms, this hotel has something for everyone. With it’s own chill out sunset bar, a kids club, evening entertainment, and multiple restaurants included in your stay, the Tui Blue Cala Tarida Hotel provides the perfect spot for relaxing but also for exploring the delights of Cala Tarida. It’s great for kids too with a mini waterpark and wellness complex just a 5 minute walk from the main resort known as “The Retreat”. The Tui Blue brand also has a resort in San Antonio Bay which is often slightly cheaper.
Hacienda Na Xamena Resort offers a luxurious retreat in the north of the island hidden away from the hustle and bustle. Nestled on a picturesque hillside, the resort provides stunning panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Guests can indulge in the waterfall cascade experience, spa treatments and dine at it’s restaurants serving local cuisine. This resort is perfect for a romantic getaway or a rejuvenating escape. Due to it’s secluded location, it is also a bit of a celebrity hot spot!
Els Pins Resort & Spa in San Antonio Bay offers recently renovated, modern and sleek accommodation. Known for its stylish design and exceptional service, the resort boasts contemporary rooms with breath-taking sea views, ensuring guests experience both comfort and luxury. There are two main outdoor pools, one surrounded by elegant loungers and lush landscaping while the other just a stones throw away from the sea. The resort is in a prime location with easy access to the nightlife of San Antonio while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.
Closing Parties
October marks the end of the summer season in Ibiza, and many of the island’s world-famous clubs host epic closing parties. It’s a chance to experience the electrifying nightlife and legendary DJ sets without the hefty price tags of peak season. From iconic venues like Pacha and Amnesia to underground hotspots tucked away in the hills, Ibiza’s closing parties are a celebration of the island and it’s music.
The Best Restaurants
If visiting Ibiza in October, this is a great time to secure a spot at some of Ibiza’s best restaurants. This is a far less stressful experience in October compared to the peak summer months. The island’s culinary scene is still buzzing so you can indulge in the island’s famous Mediterranean cuisine with no reservations required. Our go to in Cala Tarida is both Cotton Beach Club and Cas Mila Restaurant (try the paella!). So whether you’re dining overlooking the sea, in a charming village, or in a trendy spot in Ibiza Town, October offers a relaxed and leisurely dining experience.
Stunning sunsets
It wouldn’t be an article about Ibiza without a mention of sunsets. The sunsets in October are absolutely spectacular and Cala Tarida was the perfect spot for watching the sun go down. Grab yourself a spot on the beach or chill out at the Chiringuito Cala Tarida with a large jug of sangria. October sunsets in Ibiza are not to be missed, just take a look at the after glow below!
Overall, visiting Ibiza in October offers a perfect blend of sunshine, relaxation, cultural experiences, and nightlife excitement, all without the crowds and high prices of peak season.
