The best things to do on honeymoon in Ibiza.

Ibiza is well known as a party destination but it’s stunning beaches, chill out spots, lavish venues and delicious food choices also make it an ideal place to spend your honeymoon. After having our wedding in Ibiza with our friends and family, we stayed on the island for several days afterwards once our guests had left to enjoy a few days of honeymoon. Here is how we spent those days and what we can recommend as some of the best things to do on honeymoon in Ibiza.

Drink Sangria and Eat Paella

Best things to do on honeymoon in Ibiza

A day at Cala Bassa beach Club is an absolute must and the perfect spot to enjoy a jug of sangira and generous portions of seafood paella served to you from a huge pan set up by your table. Set in a little bay just 10 minutes from San Antonio Bay, the beach club has several different areas to explore with boutiques and bars as well as the beach itself. The beach and the club get busy so booking here is advisable.

Party by day

The day parties in Ibiza are a huge hit and maybe a better option for your honeymoon than the night time events that rage on into the early mornings. We went to Ibiza Rocks Hotel to see hit machine DJ Joel Corry. It is definitely a younger crowd at Ibiza Rocks and drastically overpriced for the service so it’s probably not a place to recommend if you want to party by day on your honeymoon. However there is an array of better beach club options with a party atmosphere that will tick this box. It really depends what you’re after but in Ibiza there really is something for everyone. Blue Marlin, Tanit Beach Club and even Ocean Beach, despite it’s reputation, are worth checking out.

Party by night

It wouldn’t be a honeymoon in Ibiza without a trip to one of it’s famous nightclubs. We headed to Ushuaia Hotel to see superstar DJs MK and Calvin Harris. We had our flight home to catch the next day so a midnight finish was ideal but you can continue the party into the small hours over the road at Hi, which hosts some of the best nights on the island such as Glitterbox and F*** I’m Famous by David Guetta.

Party on honeymoon Ibiza

If you’re looking for something less commercial, a night at Pikes Hotel is an Ibiza experience not to be missed. A favourite in it’s day for stars such as Freddie Mercury, Grace Jones and George Michael, even the video for the Wham hit ‘Club Tropicanna’ was filmed there! Considering the stories from this hotel, a night at the Pikes is one to add to the honeymoon list. The hotel is open during the day for poolside food and chillout sessions while at night parties are hosted on the terrace and in Freddies, a tiny club space formerly one of the hotel’s suites and aptly named after the suite’s most famous guest. There are strict rules in place for entry and you have to be on the guest list to get in. Take a look at the website below to see what parties are on during your honeymoon.

Chill out at Hacienda Spa

Set on a cliff side on the north west coast of the island, with views of the surrounding cliffs and Mediterranean Sea, the Haciena Resort is the ideal place to spend your honeymoon on Ibiza. You can stay in the resort with rooms starting from 300 Euros a night or they also offer a range of day packages for you to enjoy the facilities and amazing food the resort has to offer. To get there, we took a taxi from San Antonio Bay which took around half an hour and cost about 40 Euros each way.

We opted for the lunch and cascade spa experience at around 150 Euros per person. This package gave exclusive access to the waterfall cascades. A network of spa pools set on the cliff edge with jets that target different areas of the body as you move from pool to pool. The views as you move through the cascades are unbelievable! The lunch that followed was also a delight with dishes of refreshing tomato salad, octopus, beef and catch of the day. The restaurant sits above the hotel pool and again with amazing views.

Visit the Old Town

The old town of Ibiza is also worth a visit during your honeymoon on the island. Ibiza town is lined with picturesque streets and also a marina where massive (and expensive) cruise liners belonging to the rich and famous park up. The castle named Dalt Vila sits above the town up a steep slope and offers great views over the island.

Our evening meal in Ibiza Town was at STK steakhouse. We headed for the Champagne Charlie’s event held on Thursdays which was amazing value. Paying a set price for the evening we enjoyed free flowing premium drinks and generous servings of salads, mac and cheese, steak and ice cream. We then moved downstairs for the party and were blown away by the entertainment provided by the Disco Bandits! A trio playing all the party tunes with violin, sax and guitar. These guys play all over Ibiza in the summer so try check them out. We’ll definitely return to STK in the future, great food and atmosphere!

Watch the sunset

What’s more romantic than watching the sunset on honeymoon? Ibiza is famous for its sunsets and one of the best spots to catch the famous sunset is on the sunset strip in San Antonio. The strip is lined with famous spots such as Cafe Mambos and Cafe Del Mar that play chill out tunes and host some of the world biggest DJs. Prior booking is a must particularly in the height of season and often tables require a minimum spend. Alternatively, like many others, you can buy drinks from local shops and sit enjoying the sunset on the rocks. It is a great atmosphere! Once the sun finally sets, a round of applause echoes alongs the strip signalling that it’s time to party!

Somewhat of a hidden gem and an alternative to the San Antonio sunset strip is Kumaras in San Antonio Bay. We also have Sunset Ashram further up the coast on our Ibiza bucket list but have yet to get the chance to visit.

Hire a boat

One of the best ways to experience Ibiza on honeymoon is to hire a boat. This gives you the opportunity to explore the stunning Ibiza coastline from the sea. Our favourite route consists of a tour of the beaches of the west coast stopping at Cala Tarida & Cala D’hort where the water is turquoise blue and crystal clear. Hiring a boat also gives you the chance to experience the mystical rock of Es Vedra up close. The best way to end your boat trip is to park at the sunset strip and soak up the atmosphere from the sea.
